My touchpad stopped working?

I was about to click onto my Lenovo idea pad 100s when the touchpad became unresponsive, the mouse itself has disappeared. I restarted my laptop and went to the settings, but nothing. I am really careful with my laptop, I haven't dropped it in the past or anything. It usually stays on my bed or in its case, nowhere else. What else can I do to make the mouse work again besides taking it to the shop?
