ASUS ROG series laptop? How to check latest version?

On black friday this month, i will be buying a gaming laptop from asus. I am having trouble picking one…
As some of you noticed, there are many series for ROG laptops.
I don't want to pay my money for laptops that were released few years ago…
So my question is that, how do i know when was the laptop released and what is the alphabet means? Like JY, VW, etc…
Anyone like to recommend me a rog series laptop that are latest?
