Best Operating System for gaming?

I know that Windows is a vulnerable operating system due to its popularity, is there a good gaming operating system that is based for gaming? (Yes, I know Steam OS exists, but from what I understand, it is not very well optimized.)
Added (1). Yes, I am aware of RAM, CPU, and GPU usage. I have a Lenovo Y50 laptop that has an i7 with 2.6 GHz (A bit low, but fits my needs) with 8 GB of RAM and a Nvidia 650M. (I need a laptop due to college.) This question is more primarily meant for me to see if there are better options besides the mainstream, mostly curiosity more than anything else.
