What laptop should I get for college? - 1

I need a good laptop that can probably last me all through my 4-5 years in college and I need some pointers. I need it to have a good battery life span and capable software so it won't crash and die on me in the next 2 years. No size preference but I don't want to spend more than 600-700. Any advice?
