How to make my laptop less laggy to play games like skyrim?

I got a lenovo G50-30 with an intel HD graphics driver and 4gb ram. But the game is still far too laggy, iS there a way i can download a different driver or use more ram, as it says im only using 2.59 gb of the 3.89 usable. Even though skyrim requires 2gb its still playable but far too laggy to not get annoyed by it. Im planning to upgrade the ram to 8gb when i can but for the time being how can i make the laptop faster for playing games and music production etc.
