Can a virus stop my computer from turning on?

I was messing around on my lenovo c340 and the update needed pop-up came up, so I pressed restart, and the computer turned off. I waited about a half an hour for it to turn back on, or show anything, and it didn t, so I went over and pressed the power switch (it was dark, meaning it was off) to turn it on. Nothing happened, so I tried again, nothing. I checked all the plugs, and everything was properly connected, so I tried unplugging the cord and plugging it into a different outlet. Still nothing. I decided to wait about 4 hours and try it again, which I did. Nothing. I have tried holding the button down, resetting the fuse and everything. Please help.
