Attn: Techs - Why isn't my desktop connecting to my WiFi USB adapter /?

I'm trying to install a wifi usb adapter. My computer does not have a wifi network connector built in… Thus the adapter.

I follow the instructions that came with the adapter and at the end it displays all the networks and it looks like it gets the computer connected and displays a list of the available network connections… Including the one i want to link too. And for all i can tell it appears as the status is active (network strength indicator on right shows strong signal, wifi indicator on the left is displayed.

BUT… When i click on the computers network connection status… It shows Not Connected.

Also is it possible that the adapter is connected to the internet but the computer won't connect to it?
I've tried to trouble shoot a bunch of different things… Didn't work.

So, i turn to the wise ones.

Any ideas?
