Can t get my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge to recognize my Vizio E-series TV?

I m running Windows 10 on a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge and have a Vizio E601i-A3 smart TV. I have them linked with a HDMI cable (HDMI output on the laptop, HDMI 4 port on the TV). I ve restarted both TV and PC several times, but when I go to Settings / Display on the laptop, and click "Detect," it says there s no second display. Any hints about how to make the connection work?
